Safety & Security
Your safety comes first. Skychateau helps people discover listings and campus life, but it cannot remove every online or real-world risk. Pause, verify and report anything that feels wrong.
Before trusting a listing
- Confirm the provider's identity and their authority to offer the property, place or event.
- Check the full price, deposits, recurring costs, refund terms and availability in writing.
- Compare photographs and location information, and inspect accommodation before paying where possible.
- Treat sudden urgency, unusual discounts, copied photographs and pressure to pay as warning signs.
- Remember that a verification badge records specific checks; it is not a guarantee against fraud or changed circumstances.
Safer property viewings and meetings
Arrange a first viewing during daylight where practical. Tell someone where you are going, take a trusted person with you and use your own transport plan. Meet in a public or professionally managed setting before moving to a private location. Leave if the address, people or conditions do not match what was advertised.
Payments and documents
Skychateau does not currently collect rent, deposits or ticket payments. A payment made to a landlord, host or business happens independently outside the platform. Do not send money solely because a listing looks popular or urgent. Ask for written terms and a receipt, and never share a banking PIN, password, one-time code or unnecessary identity document.
Using WhatsApp and external links
When WhatsApp opens, you have left Skychateau. Review the recipient and prefilled message before sending. External messages, payments and agreements are controlled by the third-party service and the people involved. Stop communicating if someone pressures you, asks for secret contact or requests sensitive information.
Protect your account
- Use a strong, unique password and protect the email or Google account connected to Skychateau.
- Never share sign-in links or verification codes, including with someone claiming to be support.
- Keep your device updated and sign out on shared devices.
- Report unexpected profile changes, login activity or messages as soon as possible.
Profiles, Catch Ups and personal information
Share only what you are comfortable making visible. Do not publish a home address, timetable, live location, identity document or financial details. Get permission before posting another identifiable person. Catch Ups normally leave public display after about 24 hours, but screenshots and temporary system copies may remain.
Children and young users
A child should not arrange a viewing, travel to meet an unknown person or exchange private contact details without a parent, guardian or trusted adult. Adults must never ask a child to hide a conversation, move contact into secrecy or meet privately. Content involving a child must not expose their home, school, routine or real-time location.
What to report
Report false or unavailable listings, impersonation, hidden charges, payment pressure, harassment, threats, stalking, discrimination, unwanted contact, privacy violations, unsafe conditions or content that may exploit a child. Include the listing, profile or Catch Up involved and preserve relevant screenshots or messages without sharing them publicly.
How Skychateau may respond
Depending on the concern, Skychateau may review evidence, add a warning, reduce distribution, remove content, restrict contact features, suspend an account or preserve records for a lawful investigation. Reports involving children or an immediate threat should be prioritised and handled with limited access.
Emergencies
The Contact page is not an emergency service. If someone is in immediate danger, contact the appropriate local emergency or law-enforcement service and move to a safe place.
