Terms & Conditions

1. About these terms

These Terms govern access to the Skychateau application, website and related services. By creating an account, accessing the platform or using a feature, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge the Privacy Policy.

2. What Skychateau provides

Skychateau is a discovery and information platform for student accommodation, places, events and student-community content. It helps people browse listings, discover activities, view short-lived Catch Ups and open external communication services such as WhatsApp.

Skychateau does not currently collect rent, hold deposits, issue tenancy agreements, sell tickets, guarantee reservations or complete accommodation transactions. Agreements made with landlords, hosts, venues, businesses or users are made independently outside the platform.

3. Listings and verification

Unless expressly stated, Skychateau is not a landlord, property manager, estate agent, event organiser, ticket seller or representative of a provider. A listing does not guarantee identity, authority, safety, legality, quality, availability, price or condition. A verification badge means only that the described checks were completed; it does not eliminate risk.

Providers must have authority to publish and must keep descriptions, locations, prices, availability, photographs, amenities, rules and contact details accurate. False listings, copied photographs, hidden charges, pressure tactics and unlawful or discriminatory offers are prohibited.

4. Eligibility and child safety

People who can legally agree to these Terms may use Skychateau directly. A child, or anyone unable to enter this agreement independently, may use it only with any required verifiable consent and active supervision from a parent or legal guardian. Skychateau may request age information, guardian details or adult verification and may restrict social or contact features until verification is complete.

Children must not arrange property viewings, travel to meet unknown people, disclose home or school addresses or share contact details without a trusted adult. Adults must not ask children to keep contact secret, meet privately or disclose sensitive information.

5. Accounts and guest access

Users must provide accurate information, secure their accounts and devices, keep account roles current and report suspected unauthorised access. Accounts may not be sold, shared, used for impersonation or created to evade enforcement. Guest users remain bound by these Terms and may have limited features.

6. Your checks and safer meetings

Before relying on a listing or sending money, independently confirm the provider’s identity and authority, inspect the location, verify total costs and refund conditions, request written terms and retain communications. Avoid urgent payment pressure, attend first viewings with a trusted person where practical and never share passwords, one-time codes or banking PINs.

7. WhatsApp and external services

WhatsApp buttons and external links leave Skychateau. Messages, profiles, encryption, data collection, payments and transactions are controlled by the third party. Skychateau cannot guarantee that a displayed number belongs to the represented person. Review any prefilled message before sending it.

8. Catch Ups and user content

Users retain ownership of their content but grant Skychateau a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, format, transmit, display and moderate it as reasonably needed to operate, secure, promote and improve the platform. This licence ends when content leaves active systems, subject to reasonable backup, legal and enforcement retention.

Catch Ups normally stop being public after 24 hours, but copies may remain temporarily in caches, backups, reports or screenshots. Users must have permission to share identifiable people. Content involving children requires guardian permission and must not expose precise home, school, routine or real-time location information.

9. Prohibited conduct

  • Fraud, scams, impersonation, false listings or deceptive payment requests.
  • Harassment, threats, stalking, discrimination or repeated unwanted contact.
  • Sexual exploitation, grooming or sexualised content involving a child.
  • Publishing private identity, contact, location or financial information without authority.
  • Illegal, hateful, exploitative or materially unsafe content.
  • Malware, scraping, credential attacks, unauthorised access or bypassing safety controls.
  • Copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights infringement.

10. Moderation and enforcement

Skychateau may investigate abuse, add warnings, reduce distribution, unpublish content, restrict contact functions, preserve evidence or suspend and terminate accounts. We cannot guarantee every harmful item will be detected before it is seen. Child-safety reports may be prioritised and disclosed where lawful and appropriate.

11. Availability, disclaimers and liability

The platform is provided on an “as available” basis and may be affected by maintenance, connectivity, provider outages, security events or capacity limits. Skychateau does not promise that every listing, statement, price, distance, photograph, date or external link is complete or current.

To the extent permitted by law, Skychateau is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss arising from independent dealings, external communications or reliance on content Skychateau did not create or guarantee. Nothing excludes mandatory consumer rights or liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

12. Suspension and account deletion

Users may stop using the platform and request account deletion. Skychateau may suspend or terminate access for violations, fraud risk, legal requirements, inactivity or threats to users or systems. Complaints should include the account email and relevant listing or report reference.

13. Intellectual property

Skychateau's software, branding, layout, original text, databases and graphics are owned by or licensed to Skychateau. You receive a limited, revocable right to use the platform for its intended purpose. You may report suspected copyright, trademark or other rights infringement through the Contact page.

14. Complaints and disputes

Start by contacting Skychateau with the account email, a clear description and the relevant listing or report reference. Safety-critical matters will be prioritised. Users remain free to contact an appropriate regulator or law-enforcement authority where they have that right.

These Terms are intended to be governed by the laws of the Republic of Zambia, subject to mandatory consumer rights and review by qualified Zambian counsel. A dispute that cannot be resolved informally may be brought before a competent Zambian court.

15. Responsibility for provider claims

To the extent permitted by law, an adult provider or business user is responsible for claims and reasonable costs caused by an unlawful listing, lack of authority, infringement, fraud or serious breach of these Terms. This does not impose a commercial indemnity on a child or reduce any mandatory consumer or child-protection right.

16. Changes and contact

Skychateau may update these Terms for product, legal, safety or operational changes and will show a revised effective date. Material changes will be communicated where required. Official support, child-safety reporting and registered business details will be published before launch.
